What is a Collagen Triple Helix?

Undenatured collagen is an incredibly strong and fibrous protein that gets its strength from its triple helix structure. Each triple helix consists of three long polypeptide chains made up of different sequences of the amino acids glycine, proline, hydroxyproline, and arginine. For context, each chain contains roughly 1400 amino acids!
The chains twist together to form a tightly wound coil, which organizes into collagen fibers to give strength, stability, and flexibility to your connective tissue. This may sound a bit complex and science-y, but all you need to know is that the triple helix gives collagen its unique strength and joint health properties!
Undenatured type 2 collagen supplements contain an intact triple helix. When taken orally, it interacts with the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) to retrain the immune system so it no longer views collagen in your joint cartilage as a foreign substance. Consuming it daily enhances joint comfort and mobility through immune tolerance. At 10Kate Laboratories, our patented production technology ensures the Undenatured Collagen Type 2 in Carticol is extracted at a low temperature to retain its triple helix structure – 100% active and intact!
